The United Kingdom’s Alan Carr ends Day 1a with 185,600 in chips, ahead of the 28 survivors and with Deividas Kvaselis (183,200) just behind him at the MPN Poker Tour Main Event.
It’s tight at the top of the counts, as Oleg Egorov (175,900) and Johan Goslings (174,100) are also poised for a deep run on Day 2. All of the top five Day 1a finishers qualified for the event in satellites, online at OlyBet, Bettson and Grosvenor Poker.
The MPN Poker Tour has returned to Casino Malta this week, with a €150,000 guaranteed €500 + €50 Main Event running alongside a full complement of side events, parties and activities.
Today’s 99 entries into Day 1a have put the guarantee within comfortable breaking range already; now those who’ve made it through (and some about to join in tomorrow) are free to enjoy the legendary MPN Poker Tour hospitality at the Players’ Party on Hugo’s Rooftop Bar.
The MPN Poker Tour visited Malta in 2014 and Csaba Malnai took the trophy and €15,330 top prize from a total prize pool of €52,865.
Tomorrow’s field is expected to easily eclipse today’s; the 2017 champion will be looking at an even greater reward for his efforts at the felt.
Day 1b of the Main Event begins at noon with the same late-registration and re-entry options (i.e. unlimited) available throughout the day. Live coverage continues on the MPN Poker Tour blog throughout the Main Event, with the final day’s action streamed live (Sunday).
Side event action commences tomorrow at 8 p.m. with the €100 + €10 NL Hold’em Turbo tournament, continued on Saturday with the Casino Malta Poker Cup (3 p.m.) and the MPNPT Omaha Cup (18:00), both with a €135 + €15 buy-in. The MPN Poker Tour Malta runs from April 27-30 at Casino Malta.
