Larry Greenberg Wins Inaugural WPT Bellagio Elite Poker Championship


The former hedge fund manager Larry Greenberg has won his very first significant live tournament poker title. It is his second largest live tournament earnings. He topped a field of 126 entries to win the first-ever WPT Bellagio Elite Poker championship for $378,879. The prize money includes a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions. where he will compete against fellow WPT Champions Club members for the chance to be crowned the true champion of champions.

Greenberg entered the final table second in chip leader among the five remaining players. He eliminated WPT Champions Club member Ryan Van Sanford in fifth place to take a dominating lead. Van Sanford had picked up the JDiamond SuitJClub Suit, but Greenberg was holding two aces and quickly snapped him off.

Adrian Garduno in fourth place – $100,832 and then Jim Collopy fell in third place – $146,644. Both were eliminated by Greenberg to leave Greenberg and Danny Qutami heads up for the title.

Qutami was severely short, though, and the two quickly found the money in the middle. Greenberg had the AsQc and Qutami had the Kh7c. The flop, turn, and river ran out Qh9s8c3cJh and Qutami finished in second place.
