Jake Schindler Wins 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final €100k Super High Roller

The 28-year-old American poker pro Jake Schindler has won the 2018 PartyPoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona €101,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em super high roller event.

He defeated a field of 48 total entries to win €1,750,000 ($2,170,000 USD) . This was Schindler’s career second largest LIVE tournament earnings and has joined the top twenty on the all-time money list. Currently, he is holding 19th place.

Schindler entered the final day of this event as the chip leader with 11 players remaining. Poker Hall of Famer and eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Erik Seidel was the first player eliminated inside of the money. He earned $297,600 USD for his second high roller final table finish in the span of three days, having placed third in a €25,000 buy-in event earlier this series. Following Seidel to the rail was Bryn Kenney, who got all-in with a straight draw and failed to improve against Schindler’s flopped set that improved to quads on the river. Kenney earned $421,600 USD for his latest deep run in a high roller event.

Jason Koon was the next to go when he ran pocket threes into the pocket sixes of Stephen Chidwick preflop. Chidwick’s larger pair held up and Koon was eliminated in fourth place, taking home $620,000 USD. Chidwick continued his spree of knockouts by sending Jean-Noel Thorel to the rail in third place, setting up a final showdown with Schindler.

The American took a slight lead into heads-up play with both players starting with more than 110 big blinds. Schindler was able to keep a lead throughout the battle, though, despite Chidwick closing the gap a few times. By the time the final hand arose Schindler had built roughly a 3-to-2 advantage.

With blinds of 175,000 and 350,000 Schindler raised to 875,000 from the button with the ASpade Suit3Heart Suit and Chidwick called with the QSpade Suit6Heart Suit. The flop brought the ADiamond Suit4Spade Suit2Spade Suit and Schindler fired a small 500,000 bet when checked to. Chidwick made the call and the Spade Suit5Club Suit rolled off the deck on the turn. Chidwick checked and Schindler bet 1,800,000 only to have Chidwick raise to 5,100,000 with just queen high and a gutshot straight draw. Schindler made the call with his turned straight and the 7Spade Suit completed the board and the spade flush draw from the flop. Chidwick elected to continue with his bluff and moved all-in. After plenty of thought Schindler made the call and was relieved to find that his straight was good enough to earn him the pot and the title.

Chidwick took home $1,364,000 USD as the runner-up finisher, as well as 500 POY points. This was his ninth final table of the year, and with 3,110 total points and $4,239,663 in year-to-date earnings he now sits in third place on the POY leaderboard.
