New Jersey Online Poker Briefing: Michael ‘MikeyCasino’ Azzaro Wins Over $14,000


Michael “MikeyCasino” Azzaro was the biggest winner on Sunday in New Jersey’s regulated online poker rooms after shipping the NJ/888poker $50,000 Ultimate Warrior for $13,500. Keith “T1mB3y_B33F” Donovan finished in second place in this tournament for $7,875.

This was Azzaro’s second biggest cash, as three years ago in January 2014 he took second place in thepartypoker NJ/ Sunday $100K for $19,285. To add to his Sunday haul, Azzaro also took fifth place in the NJ/888poker NJ $10,000 Warriors’ Opening Strike for $803.

Meanwhile, the PokerStars NJ Winter Series kicked off its 10 event series at PokerStars NJ from Jan. 22-29 with $275,000 in guaranteed prize pools. The highlight of the online poker festival is the NJ Winter Series 10 – Main Event: NL Hold’em, $75,000 Gtd on Jan. 29.

The first two events were this past Sunday. Mitchell “TrumpsDong” Friedberg won the NJ Winter Series 1: $75 NL Hold’em [6-Max], $15,000 Gtd for $5,918 after defeating Anthony “FlawlessBINK” Maio in heads-up. Maio banked the $4,330 runner-up prize.

The final three players agreed to a deal in the NJ Winter Series 2: $200 NL Hold’em [Sunday Special SE], $65,000 Gtd with “RvrCrdBING” winning the tournament for $10,719, “PupoStarsNJ” taking second place for $9,495 and “GivnUstrokes” snagging third place for $10,925.

Yong “iFoldN0T” Kwon once again made headlines by shipping the PokerStars NJ Sunday High Roller [6-Max], $15,000 Gtd for $7,144.

Renata “TaintedLady” Colache also won a big tournament this weekend, taking down the partypoker NJ/ Daily $10K for $3,276. While this represents her biggest online cash on New Jersey regulated online poker rooms to date, she has more than a dozen live cashes that exceed this amount including a second-place finish in the Borgata Poker Player’s Series $560 No Limit Hold’em – Double Play for $26,408 in March 2015.
