MARTIN KOZLOV WINS 2017 SHRPO MAIN EVENT AND $754,083

Australian tournament pro Martin Kozlov won earlier this week the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) $5,250 Championship in Florida for $754,083.

Kozlov first burst onto the tournament scene in 2016, when he won his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet in Event #39: $10,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship for over $665K. Prior to winning his first WSOP bracelet, Kozlov had been playing the live events in his home turf, Australia, with some steady results.

However, this time Kozlov managed to hit a real home run in Florida for his biggest ever live cash. The win takes his total live tournament earnings to $2,7 million. The Aussie pro had to beat nearly 900 players on his way to victory, including a grueling final table that ended up lasting for 13 hours:

“It was super slow, and you just had to play it one hand at a time. The structure was so good you could afford to take some beats, you could afford to lose some pots. Patience was the most important thing I guess,” Kozlov commented the final table after his win.

In the final hand of the tournament, Kozlov flopped a top set with his pocket kings and Dylan Drazen ended up calling his all-in shove on the river with {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, when the board showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Needless to say, Drazen’s pair of eights were no good and he was eliminated in 2nd place for $528,322
